George celebrated his first Birthday with a cake smash photography session! He is such a happy little man and was so well behaved for his photoshoot he definitely enjoyed his chocolate cake and got nice and messy, we put him into one of my bath tubs to wash away the cake, they quite often enjoy the bath photo session more than the cake so this gives us another opportunity to get some nice portraits, here are a few images from his session
I prefer to do cake smash photos a week or so before the birthday so you have the images back for the day although if you prefer and i am able to i am happy to do the photoshoot on the day
After we have finished the cake smash we do a little bath session to clean baby up, quite often they enjoy the bubble bath more than they enjoyed the cake smash and this gives us another opportunity to get some more nice portraits, i have a few different bath tubs to chose from
When baby is nice and clean we do a little portrait session of baby in his/her own clothes or i have a ever increasing amount of little outfits than can be used for the photoshoot
Siblings can be included in the cake smash, i usually let them jump in for some photos during the smash and the when we do the little portrait session at the end we can get some photographs of them all together on a neutral background so the session doesn’t just have a birthday theme
You can either bring your own cake for the cake smash or i can order one form a local baker to match the theme, if baby has any food allergies make sure to let me know so my baker can make something suitable
Even if baby loves the cake they generally only pick at the icing so most of the time you get to take the cake home with you
Quite often Mum and Dad get covered in cake so bear this in mind if you are going somewhere else after the photoshoot
